PROPECIA - ONLY FOR MEN

PROPECIA IS TO BE USED ONLY FOR -MEN TYPE HAIR LOSS-

Finasteride is sold in the U.S. under the brand name Propecia. It is an FDA approved, prescription-only oral medication prescribed to treat male pattern baldness.

Propecia has been shown to be extremely effective at preventing and slowing the loss of hair. In some men it will stimulate significant new hair growth.
Side effects are generally low. You should not take Finasteride if you have any liver problems. Some men report certain sexual side effects. In many cases, the side effects go away after a few months of adjustment.
Propecia is available through prescription only, so talk to your doctor or dermatologist if you are interested. How Propecia WorksPropecia combats hair loss by altering the way that testosterone is processed in the body. Some of the testosterone in our bodies is altered by an enzyme named 5-alpha reductase. This process creates a hormone called Dyhydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a powerful hormone related to sexual development. However, it is also responsible for the shrinking and degeneration of hair follicles, which leads to male pattern baldness.
Finasteride works by lowering the overall amount of DHT in the body. It accomplishes this by blocking the formation of DHT. Once levels of this hormone are lowered, hair follicles will stop or slow degeneration. DHT is an important hormone in male sexual development in the fetal and pubescent stages of life. It is for this reason that pregnant women and adolescent males should never take or even handle Propecia tablets.
The ProofNumerous scientific studies have proven the effectiveness of Propecia. One study followed men with male pattern baldness over the course of 5 years. Half the participants took propecia, and the other half took a placebo (dummy pill). 9 out of 10 men taking Propecia either maintained their current hair count or had new growth. All the men in the study who were taking the placebo lost hair. Males in the study were 18-41, with mild to moderate hair loss. This medication typically needs to be taken for three months to show results. If after twelve months you haven’t seen any results, it is unlikely you will see any benefit from continued use. It is important to note that if you stop taking Propecia, you will most likely lose all the new hair growth and hair that otherwise would have been lost within 12 months.

PROPECIA SIDE EFFECTS:
Propecia is clearly one of, if not the most effective treatment available for male pattern baldness. As with most medications, however, there are potential side effects. Some men report sexual side effects, although this is somewhat rare. These include lower sex drive, difficulty achieving an erection, and decreased production of semen. According to Merck, each of these side effects occurred in less than 2% of the men studied. The negative sexual effects disappeared once treatment stopped. Some people are allergic to Finasteride. Hives, itching, swelling, and other symptoms have been reported in those allergic to the medication.

PROECIA IN WOMEN:
Women who are or may potentially be pregnant must not use PROPECIA and should not handle crushed or broken PROPECIA tablets because the active ingredient may cause abnormalities of a male baby’s sex organs. If a woman who is pregnant comes into contact with the active ingredient in PROPECIA, a doctor should be consulted. PROPECIA tablets are coated and will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the tablets are not broken or crushed.
